The UCL Multimedia Anthropology Lab (UCL MAL) is launching the MultiVocal Futures (MVF) Project at the 2025 Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL) Festival in Brasília. This initiative focuses on engaging Indigenous voices in global conversations around climate science, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and music. The MVF team will visit Guarani and Kaiowá territories in Mato Grosso do Sul before participating in ATL, which gathers 10,000 Indigenous representatives from over 200 ethnic groups in Brazil.

1. VR Museum Project
o Led by Guarani and Kaiowá elders to preserve cultural heritage digitally.
o Aims to re-engage younger Indigenous generations with traditional knowledge.
o Explores possibilities of digital sovereignty and live biodiversity mapping.
2. Ambisonic (4D) Sound System
o Developed by UK multimedia artist Andrea E. Kerecsen
o Designed to create immersive soundscapes reflecting Indigenous environments

3. Sonic Afrofuturism & Indigenous Music
o Collaboration between Latin Grammy-nominated Indigenous rap group Brô MCs and electronic music legend A Guy Called Gerald.
o Focus on merging Indigenous sounds with electronic music as a form of resistance and cultural empowerment.
4. AI Filmmaking & Indigenous Mythology
o International cinematographer Roger Eaton will lead AI-driven experiments to visualize Indigenous cosmologies and myths.
o Collaborative storytelling sessions with Indigenous elders
5. Live Streamed Indigenous Debates
o Discussions on climate change, digital transformation, and Indigenous rights.o Reflection on Indigenous concerns for COP30 in Brazil.
6. Digital Heritage & Museum Collaborations
o Partnership with British Museum to challenge Indigenous exclusion from heritage documentation.
o Engaging Indigenous communities in decisions about how their culture is represented.
7. Citizen Science & AI for Climate Justice
o Exploring Indigenous participation in biodiversity monitoring and AI development.
o Indigenous perspectives on AI differ from mainstream technological frameworks, influencing global innovation.The OGA LABMAL’s events at ATL will be hosted in a 15m geodesic dome named OGA LAB, inspired by the Guarani & Kaiowá sacred house (Oga Pysy)— a spiritual space where the material and spiritual worlds meet.
