HARSHADHA BALASUBRAMANIAN

PhD Candidate, UCL

Harshadha Balasubramanian is a practice-based PhD researcher exploring the experiences of performing artists adopting virtual reality (VR) in England. Her project, funded by the London Arts and Humanities Partnership, asks how artists form and influence ideas about what and who VR is for. Harsha is based at the Department of Anthropology, UCL, and she collaborates with advisors at the Royal College of Art. A defining feature of Harsha’s research has been foregrounding marginalised arts practices, such as Audio Description, to critically rethink VR design.
