Makda Iyasu (b. 1985) is a London-based artist, photographer and filmmaker. Iyasu’s documentary and ethnographic works foreground communities from across the globe, including queer cultures from Brazil and the UK. Having worked in a range of production and creative direction settings, Iyasu developed a unique, seductive visual language that conveys socially charged topics in a playful and radical way. Most recently, Iyasu presented her work in a solo show ‘The Third Space’ (2020) and took part in a virtual reality exhibition ‘Multimedia Encounters’ (2021).
